ADAM DODGE-

1) Talk about your blog, how it started, what was your inspiration to blog?
Our blog’s owner, Chuck Richter started the blog and message board 2003 due to a lack of quality Angels’ Fan sites on the web. I came aboard shortly after to provide content for members and readers. At the time I was interested in pursuing journalism for a career.

2) Talk about the misconceptions people have about blogs/bloggers
People will often say that bloggers lack the necessary writing capabilities to be taken seriously, that they’re somehow not credible due to a lack of “professional” credentials and that they’re nerds, living in their mother’s basement. And, they’re correct a lot of the time. In general, I think bloggers have a long way to go before gaining acceptance as legitimate media in this country. At angelswin.com, we pride ourselves on being credible, conducting thorough research, providing interviews, etc… In fact, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim saw fit to provide our outfit with press credentials for the Major League club in 2009.

3) what are the stereotypes about blogs/bloggers that you dislike the most?
I’m actually quite the fan of stereotyping.

4) What advice would you give to someone starting thier own blog?
I would tell them that it is probably going to suck and advise them to do something else. Most blogs are awful. The content is weak. The writing is terrible. If you’re going to start a blog, make sure you have a qualified editor look at every piece of content you publish.
5) Why do you blog? Is it therapy? A release?
I’m a nerd living in my Mother’s basement.

6) Do you have a day job? What are your hobbies outiside of your blog?
Indeed. I’m an account manager for a niche legal compliance firm. I am a semi-retired stand-up comic. Over the past year I’ve been fortunate enough to spend a lot of my free time on KLAA AM830 – the Angels’ radio network as an in-studio guest for Jeff Biggs. I’ve co-hosted his show and Roger Lodge’s show when they’ve been out. Radio is a lot of fun and something I’m definitely interested in that career field if a full-time opportunity presents itself.
7) What makes your blog better than other blogs for your team?
We have unmatched support from the Angels’ organization. To me, that is the biggest key. Tim Mead, the Angels’ front office and radio guys have been so accommodating to us at angelswin.com. I also think we have a very talented staff of novice writers. Geoff Bilau is a writer for us, and with a journalism background, edits everything we publish. He makes our words look better than the other guys’.

Funny, Adam.

Jim, here's a few logos to use for the feature. Let me know if you need anything else. I have also attached a picture of one of our many softball games that members of our website have twice a year at our AngelsWin.com fanfests.

I'm also going to link you and post below a feature Yahoo did on our Blog last month.

Post We're Proud of: Top 50 Greatest Moments in Angels Baseball, The Bane Connection, Top 50 Prospects, Sweet Revenge at last, Scott Kazmir interview — before his first start as an Angel in Seattle.
Who We Are: "We are the Internet home for Angels fans. Providing both content on our blog and discussions on our message board, AngelsWin.com is an Angels Web site of the fans, by the fans, for the fans. With thousands of members and daily readers, AngelsWin.com has reached international, national and local readers on the net. Credentialed by the Angels front office in '09, heard locally on the Angels AM 830 radio and partnered with the Orange County Register's Angels Blog, AngelsWin.com has a strong local presence. Nationally, we were selected by USA Today to Blog on the Angels during the '09 ALDS and ALCS last year and FoxSports.com contacted us to produce their prospect guide for the Los Angeles Angels which will hit the magazine rack in stores soon. Internationally we were hit up by the Mainichi Newspaper and most recently by the Japan Times for a Matsui feature."

Jim, we just recently (today) posted our Top 10 Moments of FAIL for Angels fans http://angelswinblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/top-10-moments-of-fail-for-angels-fans.html

We also have a feature that we update every year (if need be) titled The Top-50 Greatest Moments in Angels Baseball which can be seen here: http://angelswin.com/great_moments.htm

Our Blog lists a bunch more too. I'd say our annual Top-50 Prospects lists are a pretty big draw too.

Let me know if you need anything else, Jim.

Respectfully,
Chuck Richter
